| Freedom of information |
Since January 2005 all government bodies must comply with the provisions of
the Freedom of Information Act 2000. It gives any person or legal entity
the right to request any information held by a public body. Our Approach Amtec offers a range of services that
enable a public body to meet its obligations under the FOIA and to minimise the
cost to the organisation of doing so. - information management review - provides a framework for
compliance with the requirements of the FOIA and includes an evaluation
of the processes used to formulate and operate the corporate publication
scheme.
- information audit - a process used to identify holdings
of information at a localised level. The purpose of the review is to
support the operation of the access procedure and the operation of the
publication scheme by enabling authorised users to locate information
that is held.
- implementation support - Amtec provides a comprehensive
range of consultancy support and assistance in the development and
embedding of policies, procedures and processes to enable the public
body to handle requests for information cost effectively.
- training and communications - design and delivery of a
wide range of awareness and training programmes.
| Benefits of our approach These include: - examines an organisation's readiness, at all levels from top
management through to the staff that are customer facing, to respond to
requests.
- addresses the operational issues as well as the legal and
organisational issues. This means that the capability to deal with FOI
enquiries, information retrievals, exemptions and information handling,
can be assured.
